The First Glimpse of the Kendrick Brothers' New Film

It's called "Overcomer" and a mini-trailer is now out to whet our appetites.

A Christian sports drama, the film focuses on high school coach John Harrison, whose dreams of a winning a state title in basketball evaporate when the town's main employer closes down, prompting hundreds of families to move. He reluctantly agrees to take up the reins of the cross country team, introducing him to a girl with amazing talent.

Written by Stephen and Alex Kendrick, this Christian film stars Alex as the coach, Shari Rigby, Priscilla Shirer and Aryn Wright-Thompson as the runner. Alex was a busy man on this film, also serving as director, as has been the case with previous Kendrick Brothers' productions.

The Kendricks are pastors and have demonstrated in their other films a commitment to sharing the Gospel through their moviemaking, so it comes as no surprise that a key message of this picture, judging by the trailer, is finding our indentity in our Creator, not our station in life.

Overcomer hits theaters in August, 2019. Until then, here's the teaser trailer:
