The Robertson family's new show will hit the air waves this summer.
Cable television network A&E is teaming up once again with the Louisiana-based Robertson clan for a new take on the hit reality TV show Duck Dynasty. This reboot will be called Duck Dynasty: The Revival and the channel has ordered two seasons of the program.
Favorites from the original show, which ran on A&E from 2012 through 2017, will return, led by Willie Robertson and his wife, Korie. They are to be joined by Uncle Si, Miss Kay, and now-grown children John Luke, Sadie, Will, Bella, and Rebecca, according to a press release. One prominent family member not mentioned was patriarch Phil Robertson, who is suffering from poor health and is in the early stages of Alzheimer's disease, as Christian Film Blog reported last month.
The family, who are committed and outspoken Christians, "will bring their signature humor" to the program, which "will follow Willie and Korie and their growing family of adult children and grandchildren, the next generation of Robertsons living on the family homestead in Louisiana," as a synopsis of the program puts it, while they map out "the future of Duck Commander, watching the kids navigate marriage, children and businesses of their own, and passing down the family legacy."
The original version of the show was quite popular, reaching an audience of 11.8 million viewers at its peak. The lead couple, Willie and Korie Robertson, made clear in a joint statement that they are looking forward to the new production.
"Going back on A&E feels a little like going back home. We're thankful for all who have followed along as our family has grown and expanded and can't wait to get cameras rolling again on all our new adventures, or perhaps misadventures."
Each of the two new seasons of Duck Dynasty: The Revival will consist of ten one-hour episodes, with Season 1 releasing sometime this summer, though no firm date has as yet been announced. Christian Film Blog will follow developments and bring you updates as we get them.
