The biopic about the martyred German man of the cloth lands in the Top-10 for ticket revenue on its second weekend in release.
Bonhoeffer: Pastor. Spy. Assassin brought in $2.3 million over the Thanksgiving weekend, according to The Numbers website. That puts it in sixth place overall, down from fourth the previous weekend. Through ten days in release, the faith-based film has generated more than $9.6 million at the North American box office.
Based on the life of anti-Nazi dissident Dietrich Bonhoeffer, this picture is primarily set in World War II Germany, the late pastor's homeland. In an effort to save Jews from Adolph Hitler's murderous campaign against them, he stood boldly against the National Socialist regime, eventually paying with his life shortly before its collapse in 1945.
