Episodes four through six of The Chosen generated an estimated $3.6 million dollars at the box office from Friday through Sunday, according to The Numbers website; that figure rises to $4.3 million when you add in revenue from Thursday.

That performance puts the second installment of Season 4 in fourth place overall for the weekend, two spots lower than the first installment delivered when it opened on the silver screen at the beginning of the month. That initial production, which finished its theatrical run the day before this latest one opened, generated $7.3 million for its inaugural weekend.

Filmmakers behind The Chosen, which stars native New Yorker Jonathan Roumie in the role of Jesus, have decided to release all eight episodes of Season 4 in theaters, breaking them up, however, into three installments. This second one - featuring episodes four through six - will play through February 28th, and be followed by the third and final installment - episodes seven and eight - beginning on February 29th.
