On its fifth weekend in North American theaters, The Best Christmas Pageant Ever delivered more than $1.5 million in ticket revenue, according to The Numbers website. That is down over 50% from the previous weekend, but it nonetheless allowed the picture to claim tenth position at the box office from Friday through Sunday.

Directed by Dallas Jenkins, the Christian filmmaker behind the hit streaming series The Chosen, this one is based on a 1972 bestselling children's book that tells the story of a local church Christmas play that is taken over by a group of misbehaved siblings. They ultimately, however, go on to "unwittingly teach a community the true meaning of Christmas," as the synopsis puts it.

After 31 days in release, The Best Christmas Pageant Ever is now playing in some 1,600 theaters, which is down from a high of 3,020 when it rolled out back in early November, and it has brought in nearly $34.5 million in total ticket revenue.
