A Tough Opening Weekend for "God Bless the Broken Road"

Updated: Sep 10, 2018

The faith-based film comes in under expectations.

The Harold Cronk-directed picture about a young mother facing a crisis of faith after the death of her husband in Afghanistan brought in just $1.38 million, according to Box Office Mojo. That is well short of the $4 million-plus take the studio was hoping for.

The weak performance was only good for 11th place in box office receipts for the weekend, making God Bless the Broken Road the only one of the three movies debuting nationwide that did not make it into the top ten.

The competition likely won't get easier, either. Another faith-based movie, also directed by Cronk, Unbroken: Path to Redemption debuts this coming weekend.
