This Netflix musical is riding its dance numbers, Christian songs and faith-based message into the Top-10 in countries all over the world.
Wouldn't it be interesting to know what the box office numbers would have been had A Week Away gone the theatrical-release route instead of streaming on Netflix? We suspect the figures would have been impressive, because this teen musical is drawing viewers in large numbers in lots of countries.
According to producer and co-writer Alan Powell, it has reached the top spot among the most-watched movies on Netflix in both Canada and Hungary and gone as high as number seven in the United States. A website called What's on Netflix - which keeps track of developments related to the streaming platform but is not affiliated with it - reports that, as of this writing, the film is in the Top-10 in no fewer than nine other countries, including Australia, Brazil, Germany, Great Britain and India.
A Week Away stars Bailee Madison and Kevin Quinn as teens who fall for each other at a Christian summer camp, and it features songs from some of the top names in the Christian music business, including For King & Country, Steven Curtis Chapman, Amy Grant and Michael W. Smith.
