The biopic about Christian athlete Kurt Warner claims a spot in the Top-10 at the box office for the fifth straight weekend.
Fans continue to turn out for American Underdog, delivering $1.17 million in ticket sales from Friday through Sunday, according to The Numbers website. That puts the movie in seventh place overall, which is down one spot from the previous weekend, and pushes its total domestic revenue above $23 million.
This faith-based picture from the Christian brother duo of Andrew Erwin and Jon Erwin stars Zachary Levi, Anna Paquin and Dennis Quaid, and it follows Kurt Warner's incredible rise to greatness as quarterback of the then St. Louis Rams. It is the second feature film from the Erwins under their partnership deal with Hollywood studio Lionsgate and will be followed in March by picture number three: The Unbreakable Boy, again starring Zachary Levi.
Theater numbers for American Underdog, which currently sit above 2,100, are likely to drop significantly after next weekend, because the movie will become available for purchase in the digital format starting on Friday, February 4th; DVD and Blu-Ray sales will follow on February 22nd.
