The Christian actress' latest Yuletide movie premieres this weekend on Great American Family Channel.
For years the leading star on the Hallmark family of networks, Candace Cameron Bure has now been the headliner at Great American Family since moving over to that competitor channel back in 2022. When she made the switch, she cited her desire to make "faith-filled programming," which is what she has done with her latest production.
It is called Home Sweet Christmas and in it Bure plays a lawyer who inherits a majority stake in a sugar maple forest where she grew up. Her return to the town reunites her with a childhood friend who also received part of the inheritance - played by Cameron Mathison - and the two rekindle their relationship as they debate whether to keep the property or sell it.
Not just an actress for the network, the 48-year-old California native is also Great American Family's Chief Content Officer, meaning she has a strong voice in the productions that run on the channel. In an interview with The Christian Post, she shared that she is grateful that viewers of the channel "want to see films that are more than just about two people falling in love" - though they like that as well - but that also "share about faith in God and the reason for the season."
"The season that Christ was born to, to pay the price for our sins and sacrifice Himself and die on the cross, that He is the Savior of the world, the ultimate gift."
This movie will be Bure's second to air on Great American Family during this Christian season...the first, A Christmas Less Traveled, debuted earlier this month. Home Sweet Christmas premieres on the channel this coming Sunday, December 1st, at 8:00 PM EST/7:00 PM CST. You can get a better feel for what to expect from the trailer below.
