The true story of a football coach who lost his job for praying after games will run on the big screen for another week.
Having landed a spot in the box office Top-15 on its debut last weekend, Average Joe has had the length of its theatrical run almost doubled. Originally planned as an eight-day limited release that was scheduled to finish today, the faith-based picture will now run for an additional seven days.
It brought in $1.1 million last Friday through Sunday, according to The Numbers website, claiming 12th place overall in domestic ticket revenue. There has been no financial reporting in the days since then, but the film is evidently doing well, in light of the extension.
Average Joe stars Christian actor Eric Close in the role of Joe Kennedy, a high school football coach from Washington State who was fired for praying at midfield after games. He fought the dismal through the legal process and ultimately got his job back when the United States Supreme Court ruled in his favor.
The movie is now set to run through next Thursday, October 24th, and you can purchase tickets to a theater in your area via this link to the website of distributor Fathom Events.
