"The Chosen" actress plays the lead in this true story of exiles who found faith and hope in the midst of oppression.
The breakup of the Soviet Union is more than three decades in the past, but Between Borders endeavors to capture the wrenching ordeal that it set in motion for some citizens of that enormous nation. To that end, the faith-based movie focuses on the travails of the Petrosyans, an Armenian family of four that faced ethnic persecution, first in Azerbaijan and then in Russia, that ultimately prompted them to flee to the United States.
Elizabeth Tabish - best-known for her role as Mary Magdalene on The Chosen - leads the cast, playing the wife and mother of the asylum-seeking family, which in the midst of their struggles discovers "eternal hope through a church planted by American missionaries," as the film's synopsis explains. Among those joining her on screen are Elizabeth MItchell, who appeared in the 2024 faith-based picture Sound of Hope: The Story of Possum Trot, and Christian actor Stelio Savante, another cast member of The Chosen.
Between Borders is to be a limited engagement and will run in theaters nationwide from this Sunday, January 26th, through Tuesday, January 28th only.
