The Christian filmmakers' latest picture debuted at number one in theaters in that South American nation.

As we recently reported, the duo of Alex and Stephen Kendrick have a track record of success in Brazil, with two previous pictures - Overcomer (2019) and War Room (2015) - each topping $2 million in theatrical revenue. They have now made it a hat trick: The Forge has crossed that threshold as well.

Not only that, but it was the number one film in that nation on its opening weekend late last month. According to Box Office Mojo, the picture's nearly $2.1 million in revenue thus far in Brazil also represents more than half of its $4 million total international ticket sales. The brothers, who are committed Christians and former pastors, went on social media to express their gratitude to Brazilian fans of the movie, with Alex saying, "Obrigado," which means "Thank you" in Portuguese. Stephen added, "Praise God," stating that the picture seems to be gaining momentum.

"They said, 'First time this year a movie in theaters in Brazil (when) the second weekend was even higher than the first weekend.' So, word-of-mouth is spreading, churches are getting involved: it's exciting what God is doing."

The Forge, as we previously reported, is now available on home entertainment in America for both purchase and rental in the digital format. After 53 days in domestic theaters, it is also still playing in some 300 venues, meaning its $28.7 million North American box office revenue will go a bit higher before the end of its theatrical run.
