The Christian film closes in on the end of its theatrical run with a Top-40 finish at the box office.
After 10-plus weeks in release, this should be the final weekend for Breakthrough. The movie brought in over $21,000 from 54 theaters over the three-day stanza, according to Box Office Mojo, putting it in 39th place.
This film, from Christian producer DeVon Franklin, has now earned a total of $40.7 million dollars in the American market, which puts it in the Top-15 on the list of all-time domestic box office receipts in the faith-based genre. It did that against a budget of $14 million, making a it financial success. And there is more revenue to come for Breakthrough: it will be available for purchase in the digital format on July 2nd and then on DVD and Blu-ray starting July 16th.
The movie tells the true story of a Missouri boy who fell through the ice and drowned in a lake only to be brought back to life through the power of prayer. It stars Chrissy Metz, Josh Lucas, Topher Grace, Marcel Ruiz and Dennis Haysbert and has a powerful message of love and redemption.
