The Christian music star will debut a new song connected to the film, which he is also executive producing.

With today being Ash Wednesday and the start of Lent, we are less than two months from Easter, when Christians the world over mark the Resurrection of Christ. The release of The Last Supper, a new movie that tracks Jesus' final days on earth, however, is just over a week away from hitting theaters in North America.
From faith-based studio Pinnacle Peak Pictures, the movie promises it "brings to life the ultimate act of love and sacrifice as seen through the eyes of those who walked alongside" the Savior. Directed and co-written by Italian filmmaker Mauro Borrelli, the film stars Australian Jamie Ward in the role of Christ, with Robert Knepper as Judas, and British actor James Faulkner in the part of Caiaphas, the Jewish high priest.
Chris Tomlin, one of the most successful artists on the contemporary Christian music scene, came aboard as executive producer after he saw a screening of the picture. In an interview with Movieguide, he says he "felt so connected to it," and is "just excited for people to experience this," adding that he signed on to "help get the word out."
"It is really ministry as well. I mean, it's powerful, powerful: it's right from God's Word. I think it brings God's Word to life in such a beautiful - accurate - but beautiful way."
In an interesting twist, Tomlin says that before he saw the film he had a new song in the works that both he and the producers felt perfectly matched the production's message.
"I have this song called No Greater Love that will be kind of debuted with this movie. It will come out with the movie. So, that's exciting to me, too. And it just fit. I had just written this song, not thinking of the movie, and it just works perfect."
The Last Supper releases in theaters on March 14th. Until then, you can get a better feel for what to expect from the trailer below.
