DeVon Franklin & Kirk Franklin Team up

Kirk - the Grammy-winning gospel singer - is the subject of a coming biopic and DeVon - the Christian movie producer - is now onboard with the project.

Since the release of his first album in 1993, Kirk Franklin has been a big name on the gospel music scene. How big? The 49-year old Texas native, who is currently on tour for his latest album - Long Live Love - has won a whopping 14 Grammy awards! The devout Christian will now share his life story in a feature film.

And he will do so in collaboration with friend and movie industry heavyweight, DeVon Franklin, who is, by the way, no relation. The two made an announcement on social media and DeVon very enthusiastically thanked Kirk for bringing him into the project.

"Makes me clap my hands, makes me wanna dance! STOMP! GET READY!!! I'm so excited to produce a biopic on my brother @kirkfranklin - you are going to be blown away!!"

This is not the first time the two have worked together. Kirk Franklin was involved in arranging the theme song for DeVon Franklin's most recent film, Breakthrough, which stars Chrissy Metz and tells the true story of a boy who was brought back to life through the power of prayer.

According to Deadline, the Kirk Franklin biopic will be written by Brian Ivie, who put out a documentary earlier this year on the Charleston, SC church shooting, Emanuel, and it will track Franklin's rise to music stardom and his struggles along the way. The project has no title or release date yet, but Christian Film Blog will keep you abreast of developments.
