The Kendrick Brothers' latest film continues to perform well at the North American box office.
The Forge delivered $2 million in ticket sales from Friday through Sunday, according to The Numbers website, putting it in ninth place overall. That revenue is down about one third from the previous weekend, which is quite respectable considering the faith-based picture has now been in theaters for more than three weeks. On a per-screen basis, things look even better: the film claimed fifth place in that category when measured against others in the overall Top-10.
Co-written by the Christian brother duo of Alex and Stephen Kendrick - and also directed by the former and produced by the latter - The Forge focuses on the issue of discipleship, and it features a strong cast, including Cameron Arnett, Karen Abercrombie, Priscillia Shirer and T.C. Stallings, all of whom have worked with the Kendricks on previous projects.
The movie has generated more than $24 million thus far in domestic revenue, which is a good number, particularly when compared to the estimated production budget of $5 million. Its theatrical release is certain to run for several more weeks, meaning that ratio will ultimately end up better still.
