From Strength to Strength for "Unplanned"

The pro-life Christian film rides a big opening weekend to a huge jump in its theater count.

Unplanned, as we detailed here, doubled predicted box office revenue from Friday through Sunday, bringing in almost $6.4 million. After such a successful debut, Christian Film Blog guessed the movie would see a 30% increase in theaters for weekend number two. Mea culpa, we got it wrong: that theater count will instead rise nearly 60%!

A P.R. agency representing the movie says distributor Pure Flix will add 600 new theaters at the end of this week, bringing the total to almost 1,700. And this comes despite aggressive efforts by pro-abortion forces to silence the film's message, as mentioned in our article in the above link.

Unplanned, from the writer/director team of Cary Solomon and Chuck Konzelman, tells the true story of Abby Johnson, a former abortion clinic director who is now a right-to-life advocate. The film stars Christian actress Ashley Bratcher as Johnson.
