Coinciding with the presidential election year, this iteration of the faith-based movie franchise will tackle the subject of politics.

A decade after the release of the original God's Not Dead picture, filmmakers are bringing God's Not Dead: In God We Trust to the silver screen. Two of the stars of that first film - Dean Cain and David A.R. White - are reprising their roles in this fifth edition, with the latter's character, Reverend Dave, running for a seat in the U.S. Congress.

As America gets ready to vote for president this fall, politics is much in the news, which no doubt played a major part in the timing of the release of this movie, one that focuses on "the enduring relevance of faith in public life and the critical fight to keep religious values at the heart of governance," as the synopsis states. It adds that the film "calls on believers to stand firm in the faith and make their voices heard."

In addition to White and Cain, the movie features a strong cast of well-known actors, including Samaire Armstrong, Ray Wise, Isaiah Washington, Scott Baio, and Charlene Tilton. Also joining in are former Arkansas governor Mike Huckabee, himself a previous candidate for president, and the popular Christian band Newsboys, whose song God's Not Dead was the title track of the first movie.

God's Not Dead: In God We Trust hits theaters nationwide next Thursday, September 12th for a limited engagement through September 18th.
