This fifth iteration also managed to claim a spot in the Top-20 at the box office over the weekend.

God's Not Dead: In God We Trust generated just short of $360,000 in North American ticket sales from Friday through Sunday, according to The Numbers website. That put it in 17th place overall in the weekend box office race and, with yesterday added in, the faith-based picture has now earned more than $3.1 million in domestic revenue through 12 days in theaters.

That is significant because it means this picture tops God's Not Dead: We the People, which brought in just $1.1 million during its theatrical release back in 2021. Granted, that movie - number four - played in theaters for only three days, but this is nonetheless the first time any of the five films in the franchise has topped the one that preceded it; the original picture - God's Not Dead - earned more than $60 million domestically back in 2014 and the following pictures dropped progressively and significantly from there.

This current edition stars Christian actors Dean Cain and David A.R. White, with the latter again playing his Pastor Dave character, who this time throws his hat into the political ring in a run for a seat in the United States Congress. The film will be in theaters through Wednesday, September 26th, and you can purchase tickets to a theater in your area via this link to the website of distributor Fathom Events.
