The Christian actress, singer and screenwriter is honored for all her years of hosting TV talk shows.
Kathie Lee Gifford sparkled on morning television for decades with her lively humor and irreverent whit, most recently on NBC's Today show, where for 11-years she co-hosted the fourth hour of that daily program together with Hoda Kotb. Before that, she had a 15-year run with Regis Philbin, co-hosting Live with Regis and Kathie Lee from 1985 to 2000.
All of that makes this honor on the Walk of Fame from the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce well deserved. And fittingly, there is some connectivity with both of the aforementioned programs to today's ceremony, because Kotb was among the guest speakers and Gifford's actual star in the sidewalk - which is the 2,695th one awarded - is to be just five places away from the late Philbun's star at 6834 Hollywood Boulevard; that's near the El Capitan Theatre.
Gifford stepped down from the Today show back in spring of 2019 to focus on moviemaking and songwriting and put out her first picture - Then Came You - last year. She both wrote it and played the lead role opposite Scottish comedian Craig Ferguson, who also spoke at today's event; country music legend Dolly Parton was the third and final guest speaker.
Alas, because of coronavirus-related safety measures, this turned into a virtual affair. You can check it out via the YouTube link below...it starts at approximately 12 minutes and 45 seconds in.
