Episode 5 of season two of this hit series about the life of Christ releases this weekend.
The Chosen moves into the second half of its second season with the Sunday premiere of the fifth of eight episodes, and a trailer released on social media indicates there is plenty to look forward to. First and foremost, the Jesus character, played by Jonathan Roumie, has a meeting with his cousin John the Baptist, who is portrayed by David Amito.
In a clip from said trailer, Amito's character tells Jesus, "I'm just impatient for you to get to work," to which Roumie responds, "I'm working on something. A sermon. A big one." That, no doubt, is a reference to Jesus' Sermon on the Mount, which will be featured in season two.
Show creator/director Dallas Jenkins and team shot that famous sermon scene earlier this year in Texas and had more than 2,000 extras on hand, despite brutally cold conditions, as we reported here. The trailer also features murderous Romans, dastardly Pharisees and a troubled Mary Magdalene, who is played by actress Elizabeth Tabish.
Episode 5, which is entitled "Spirit," releases in a livestream this Sunday, May 23rd, at 9:00 PM EDT (GMT -4) and you can watch it for free on the show's app (Android or Apple), website or YouTube channel. In edition to the program itself, the event will feature an interview with Amito, an appearance from country music star Thomas Rhett Akins - who's a big fan of the show - and a sneak peak at Episode 6. Sounds like quite a night!
