The next feature from the Erwin Brothers tells the true story of a spiritual awakening in the early 1970s.
Having shot to prominence playing the Jesus character in the hit streaming series The Chosen, Jonathan Roumie will bring his talents to the silver screen next February in Jesus Revolution. Based on a book by the same name from prominent pastor Greg Laurie, it follows the Christian revival that started half a century ago among hippie communities in Southern California.
The brother duo of Andrew Erwin and Jon Erwin are the team behind the picture - co-producing it, with Jon co-directing as well - and they are staying true to the formula that helped them deliver hits like I Can Only Imagine, I Still Believe and American Underdog: uplifting, inspirational, true stories based on Christian protagonists. Joining Roumie, who plays street preacher Lonnie Frisbee, is Kelsey Grammer in the role of pastor Chuck Smith, another Believer who was instrumental in the faith journey of then teenager Greg Laurie, portrayed by Joel Courtney.
The Erwins have also cast several talented Christian actors in supporting roles, including Emma Elle Roberts (Unplanned), Todd Terry (Vindication) and DeVon Franklin, who is better known as producer of faith-based hits like Breakthrough, The Star and Miracles from Heaven, but also acts: he played a pastor in the 2015 Erwin Brothers' film Woodlawn.
Jesus Revolution, which was shot earlier this year in California and Alabama - the Erwins' home state - is scheduled to release in theaters on the 24th of February, 2023. There is no trailer out yet for the film, but Christian Film Blog will bring it to you when it becomes available.
Can’t wait! We need something that Godspell, sadly, was not. Any possibility that someway, somehow some who want it can get a pre-screening? Thanks and God Bless! Steve Church
