The actor portrays the Jesus character in the hit show that is preparing to release its fourth season.
With just one week to go until new episodes of The Chosen hit the big screen, anticipation is building among the production's massive global audience. As part of the publicity campaign to hype the release of Season 4, cast members are giving interviews to the media.
The star of the show, Jonathan Roumie, is of course among them, and he recently stated that it is "completely humbling" to be associated with Christ, whom he plays in the streaming series. In an interview with CBN News, the 49-year-old New Yorker - who calls himself a "born again Catholic" - added, however, that he also believes God has called him to this part and that he himself is simply "following where He's leading me."
"So, I can't shy away from the association completely. There is, for me, a sense of mission about what I'm doing, and it happens to be in the form of entertainment. And that's the gifts (sic) that I was equipped with by God, I believe."
Roumie, who has shot to fame as a result of The Chosen - he has more than 1.1 million followers on Instagram - consistently uses his new-found notoriety to share the Good News of the Gospel. In addition to crediting God for bringing him to this point, he adds that whatever comes of his career going forward "is up to Him" as well, which should include the planned Seasons 5, 6, and 7 of the show, barring something unforeseen.
As to Season 4, it will release in movie theaters in three installments, as Christian Film Blog has previously reported, beginning with episodes one through three on February 1st. You can purchase tickets to a venue in your area via this link to the website of distributor Fathom Events.
