Kay Robertson of "Duck Dynasty" Fame Recovering from Dog Bite

The matriarch of the Robertson family is suffering from a painful wound to the face.

Better known as Miss Kay, Kay Robertson is the woman at the heart of the Louisiana clan that rose to national prominence on A&E's Duck Dynasty reality TV show. The 73-year-old is currently recovering at home after enduring a frightening run-in with the family pooch earlier this week, according to her husband Phil Robertson.

On his Unashamed podcast, which you can watch below on YouTube, the Christian outdoorsman explained to listeners that he was asleep in bed when his wife of 55 years came and and woke him, holding a rag over her mouth and "bleeding profusely." Phil then asked her to show him the wound, which was severe enough to require a trip to the hospital emergency room and stitches.

"She takes the rag off her face. And I'm looking at her top lip, was split in two, about a quarter of an inch. Her bottom lip, over on the right side, there was just a chunk gone."

Miss Kay evidently wanted to give their dog, named Bobo, a kiss good night, but startled him because he was already asleep. In his state of fright, the hound snapped at her, biting her on the mouth. Bobo, fortunately for him, will apparently escape rough justice since this was an accident. Phil Robertson even had a word of age-old advice for his wife, saying on the podcast, "Miss Kay, let a sleeping dog lie. You need to remember that."

Hmm, there's wisdom in that counsel, to be sure, but one has to wonder about the timing of sharing it: here's hoping Miss Kay has a good sense of humor. At any rate, please join us in prayer on her behalf. May the Lord give her a full and speedy recovery.
