The star of "Frasier" also shares how he came back to the Christian faith after turning away from God for a time.
Kelsey Grammer has settled back into the role that launched him to stardom back in the mid-1980s. His character - Frasier Crane - first appeared on the hit sitcom Cheers, and was later spun off to another long-running series called simply Frasier, with him in the lead part for its entire run from 1993 through 2004.
The 68-year-old actor has taken up the baton again, as it were, thanks to a reboot of Frasier, which came out last year with its first season. If you visit our website regularly, then you will know that is not all he has been up to professionally, since he also played a principal role in the 2023 feature film Jesus Revolution, starring as California pastor Chuck Smith.
In a recent appearance on The Kelly Clarkson Show, the Christian actor addressed his faith, saying that as a boy he "would walk kind of hand-in-hand with the idea of God's word, and God, and Jesus, and stuff like that." Challenges, however, shook his faith in adulthood.
"And then, of course, I had some very difficult things happen in my life...I cursed God and said, 'No, thanks. I don't need your help. I'd rather just handle this alone if this is the way it's going to be.'"
Ours, though, is a loving and patient Heavenly Father who will never leave us or forsake us as Scripture states repeatedly - including in Hebrews 13:5 - and that was borne out in Grammer's journey, which eventually led him back to God.
"And eventually, I just kind of got back on track and met - re-met Jesus - I guess you could say, and I carry Him with me, and it's been a great thing."
The aforementioned first season of the reboot of Frasier is available on the subscription-based Paramount Plus streaming platform and it consists of 10 episodes. No word yet on whether there will be a second season, though Grammer has hinted in other interviews that it is very likely to happen.
