Fresh off the success of that hit faith-based musical, the actor puts out a pop song.
What a year it's shaping up to be for Kevin Quinn. Months removed from his starring role in the Netflix film A Week Away, he just released a Christian music single. It's called Wildfire and he hopes it will inspire others to follow Jesus.
Though best-known for his acting, the 24-year-old is also an accomplished singer. In addition to having sung a bunch of the songs in the aforementioned streaming musical, he took part in a Christian concert tour this year called Winter Jam 2021; much earlier, when he starred on Bunk'd from 2015 to 2017, he even lent his voice to the Disney Channel show's theme song.
In an interview with The Christian Post, Quinn says of this new song that it's "a blessing that I even get to make music about Jesus according to God's plan." Wildfire, released through Capitol Christian Music Group, is a crossover song and does not overtly refer to the Lord, though subtle references are there, including lyrics like this: "Even if I'm broken, I still keep my hope in the one who holds me close."
And that is a flavor of things to come because the Chicago native will soon release a full album in the same style. Quinn, who came back to his Christian faith while filming A Week Away in the Nashville area, says he wants his music to touch Believers and nonbelievers alike.
"It is a true crossover and I hope that if you are looking for the inspirational themes and the Christian themes, you'll find them. If you aren't looking for them, you can still enjoy good pop music. But I hope people do find that line in the middle because I want them to experience both."
No word yet on when the full album will release. Wildfire, however, is available for purchase now on all the major streaming services and you can check out Kevin Quinn performing the song in the music video below.
