The Christian actor is out with a new children's book that celebrates masculinity.
Having risen to fame in the 1990s in Hercules: The Legendary Journeys, Kevin Sorbo is no doubt fixed in the minds of many in his role as the brawny character from Greek mythology, so a book like this may seem right up his alley. It is entitled The Test of Lionhood and it follows a young male lion who must demonstrate bravery and perseverance as he overcomes obstacles in an effort to save his sister.
The 64-year-old Minnesota native teamed up with Brave Books for this effort, following in the footsteps of fellow Christian actor Kirk Cameron, who has put out two works with the Texas-based children's book publisher. They all have a strong moral undergirding, often rooted in truths from the Bible, and that brought out public opposition to Cameron when he put on reading events with his books at public libraries, as we reported here and here.
Sorbo's book in part tackles the issue of being who you are born to be, which is to say staying true to your God-given gender identity. That, of course, is a hot-button issue in today's America, which at times seems obsessed with so-called transgenderism, and the father of three tells Fox News Digital he is "quite thrilled" to have been able to write the book.
"I'm just hoping that people wake up a little bit and realize, let's let boys be boys and let girls be girls."
As with Cameron and other authors under the Brave Books umbrella, Sorbo plans to hold public readings of his work at libraries and his tour will start in September. In the meantime, you can find out more about The Test of Lionhood and purchase a copy via this link to the publisher's website.
