The Christian actor has a new book that makes the case for "God-given compassion" as a key to facing down opposition.
Known for leading roles in faith-based films like Fireproof and the Left Behind franchise, Kirk Cameron has turned his attention to literary endeavors of late, having published several children's books over the last couple years. Now, however, he is focusing on adult readers with a new publication geared toward helping "realign the nation with Christian values," as the synopsis puts it.
Entitled Born to be Brave: How to be a Part of America's Spiritual Comeback, it is a bold call to action from the 53-year-old husband and father of six adult children. Publicity material for the book states that "Ungodly forces have devastated American culture," before adding that people of faith are "feeling intimidated and fearful," with many believing "society will inevitably get worse."
As you no doubt inferred from the title, Cameron does not see it that way, stating in the aforementioned synopsis that such "hopelessness is completely misplaced," because "God has given us a birthright of courage," through which we can "realign the nation with Christian values." The book points to the need for the Gospel - including in politics - since "real change requires heart transformation," and that that must involve living out "our God-given compassion for others, even in the face of backlash and opposition."
Cameron faced plenty of that, as we reported here and here, during a previous campaign for story hour readings of his children's books in public libraries around the nation. He has another such national event planned for the young ones this August 24th, by the way.
Born to be Brave: How to be a Part of America's Spiritual Comeback, which of course is not part of that affair, comes out October 8th. You can pre-order it now via this link to the website of publisher Post Hill Press.
