It took a bit longer than originally planned, but Iggy and Mr. Kirk finally released today. The production, which was supposed to come out last year, is from Christian publisher Brave Books, and it will feature live action as well as animated clips, with Kirk Cameron serving as the lead character and host.

The 54-year-old husband and father of six adult children will play a retired pilot and explorer in the program, which is somewhat modeled after Mr. Rogers Neighborhood (1968-2001) in that it will teach young children good character and morals.

Cameron's Mr. Kirk character is joined by an iguana named Iggy that "showed up on his doorstep," as the synopsis puts it, and he will "help Iggy grow in faith and wisdom, through lessons that bring Biblical truths to life." Fellow Christian actor Leigh Allyn Baker will join them on screen as one of the other characters in the show.

Cameron began his partnership with Brave Books back in 2022 when he they put out the first of his children's books - As You Grow - and deepened when they later battled liberal opposition to put on public readings at local libraries. The Texas-based publisher then launched a crowdfunding campaign that brought in the $1.25 million needed to produce the first ten-episode season of this program.

The streaming platform from Brave Books is called Brave+ and it offers other wholesome content, including existing children's shows like Bob the Builder, Strawberry Shortcake, and The Adventures of Paddington Bear. This is a subscription-based service with a monthly fee starting at $6.99 and you can find out more about how to sign up via this link to the show's website.

The first three episodes are available for free, and you can watch right now by clicking this link to Brave Books, or you can check out the trailer below to get a better feel for what to expect from Iggy and Mr. Kirk.
