A crowdfunding campaign for Adventures with Iggy and Mr. Kirk has reached critical mass: the team behind the show has brought in enough money to launch production of Season 1 on its set in Texas.

Kirk Cameron and his partners at the family-friendly children's publisher Brave Books - which has put out a couple of books from him - have raised nearly $400,000 since the funding effort got underway in February. With each episode expected to cost $125,000, supporters have "already funded three episodes," as the father of six adult children announced in a recent social media post, adding that he and the team have thus "been able to start production of the show!"

The program will star Cameron, fellow Christian actor Leigh-Allyn Baker, and a puppet iguana named Iggy. As we previously reported here, this will be a live-action studio production that will also feature animated components and aim to "teach solid morals, like Mr. Roger's Neighborhood," and provide parents with an alternative to so much of the existing children's content out there now that seems to be more and more unwholesome.

Brave Books hopes to produce both Seasons 1 and 2 - each consisting of ten episodes - for release in the latter half of this year. They will be available on the company's streaming platform, which is scheduled to roll out in the summer.

In order to produce all 20 episodes, Brave Books needs to raise a total of $2.5 million, meaning they still have a long way to go. If you would like to contribute to the effort, you can do so via this link to their website; in the meantime, the pitch video below will give you a better feel for the project.
