In response to social media chatter, the Christian actress says she "would certainly consider it."
Lisa Whelchel is still best known for her time as Blair Warner on the 1980s sitcom The Facts of Life. Now a life coach, she recently launched a new show on the MeTV and still acts as well.
In an inteview with Fox News, she responded to a question about the possibility of replacing Lori Loughlin on the Hallmark Channel's When Calls the Heart. Loughlin, of course, was fired from the program in March over her alleged involvement in a college admissions bribery scheme. While there are no talks between Hallmark and Whelchel about taking over for Loughlin - at least not that we're aware of - Whelchel says it's "flattering" that anyone would consider her right for network's hit show.
"They have great movies, and my son works on the Home & Family show. It's a wonderful network and it would be a privilege to continue to work with them because I've done a couple of movies for them already."
When Calls the Heart is still up in the air as network officials try to figure a way forward without Loughlin. It is uncertain whether her character, Abigail Stanton, will continue on the show - with another actress in the role - or be scratched altogether.
As to Whelchel, you can see her on her new program - Collector's Call, which we wrote about here - on MeTV Sunday's at 9:00 PM.
