If the coming film Southern Gospel touches moviegoers half as deeply as it has lead actor Max Ehrich, it will no doubt have quite the Kingdom impact. Based on a true story, the film tells the story of a 1960s rocker-turned-pastor who uses his musical gifts for God's glory.

Ehrich, a former cast member on The Young and the Restless, tells Christian Headlines that as he prepared, he was "studying the Bible so much," that it "deepened (his) faith intensely." The New Jersey-born actor adds that it was not a fleeting feeling either.

"This movie never left me, in a sense. I feel like my character and my faith will never be where it was before."

As you can see in the image above, his character is baptized in the film. That scene so touched the Christian actor that he actually decided to get baptized himself afterwards. And as it turned out, the writer and director of this picture - Jeffrey Smith - also happens to be a Florida-based pastor, so he did the honors for Ehrich.

Southern Gospel is set to release in theaters nationwide on March 10th, and you can find a venue near you and purchase tickets via this link to the movie's website. The trailer below will give you a better sense of what to expect in the meantime.
