Mike Huckabee is Stepping Down from His TBN Talk Show

The former Arkansas governor is making the move after his nomination to become America's next ambassador to Israel.

After seven years, Mike Huckabee will appear for the last time on his Trinity Broadcasting Network program later this week. The normally one-hour talk show will conclude with a special 90-minute tribute episode, featuring guests like Kid Rock, the satirical publication Babylon Bee, and Christian actor Gary Sinise.

Huckabee, as the show is called, launched on TBN back in 2017, airing once a week since then and offering a traditional prime-time talk format - a monologue, guest interviews, a studio band, and live audience - but with a Christian worldview courtesy of the former Arkansas governor-turned-talk-show-host, a committed Believer who as a young man was a pastor.

In a press release announcing the end of the program, the 69-year-old Huckabee called it "an honor and a privilege" to have hosted it, adding his deep gratitude for "the remarkable guests, the loyal viewers and the incredible team at TBN" for making it possible.

"It's been a true joy to bring important conversations that celebrate the heart and soul of America, and I'm so grateful to everyone who has been a part of this incredible journey."

TBN president Matt Crouch acknowledged that though the network "is losing an amazing TV host," it is for the greater good since the nation will be getting "a great Ambassador to Israel," and one who will be breaking new ground as "the first evangelical Christian in history to be nominated" to the post, which requires confirmation by the U.S. Senate, as do all ambassadorial positions.
