The Christian filmmakers are teaming up once again with their partners at Sony's Affirm Films for this as yet untitled feature.
The Georgia duo of Alex and Stephen Kendrick plan to follow up their adoption movie Lifemark with a new film in 2024. Details of the faith-based production are still under wraps, but it will feature "humor and heart," according to The Christian Post, which broke the news.
The Kendrick Brothers, who have a string of hits that include Fireproof, Courageous, War Room and Overcomer, have produced almost all of their pictures together with Affirm Films, the faith-based division of Sony Pictures.
The notable exception was last year's Lifemark, starring Christian actor Kirk Cameron. The Kendricks produced that one independently because none of the big studios - including Affirm Films - wanted to be part of it for fear of the reaction from pro-abortion forces opposed to the movie's pro-life message, as we previously reported.
Though there are no details out about the plot of this new movie, it evidently will not tread on such controversial ground, so Affirm Films is reuniting with the former pastors-turned-filmmakers. Rich Peluso, the company's executive vice president and a committed Christian, says Affirm is pleased to be renewing their partnership.
"When we got the call, the Kendrick Brothers were ready to share their next story idea, we knew it would be a powerful one - and they delivered. We're honored to partner with them again on another film that will entertain, challenge and lift up families in a time when so many people need encouragement and renewed hope."
The Kendricks will write the script together and the film will be directed by Alex and produced by Stephen. They are aiming to launch production this summer and release it in theaters in August of 2024. Christian Film Blog will continue to monitor developments and bring you updates as we get them.
Thanks for your movies, BUT...
Please do research on parents being separated from their children. Parental alienation, Court's not looking at the best interest of children, ... A very large percent of parents, usually the father, being separated from their child has nothing to do with the father's ability to be a father. The courts, department of family and children's services all turn a blind eye to the best interest of the children.
It is an upside down world we live in. Respectfully, please do some research and get actual numbers. I.e the custodial mother relapses on her drug addiction The father is NOT called for his children.
Can we try out for the movie? My name is Norm Lone. Please call me. Thanks 🙏 Love my Jesus Christ my God.
