Ashley Bratcher shares an emotional personal connection to the subject matter of this pro-life Christian film.
Written and directed by Cary Solomon and Chuck Konzelman - the team behind God's Not Dead - Unplanned tells the true story of Abby Johnson, a former director of a Planned Parenthood abortion clinic who became an outspoken pro-life advocate. The film stars Ashley Bratcher in the role of Johnson.
In an interview with Fox News, Bratcher says the casting process was so fast that she was already on location before she could tell most of her family she'd gotten the role. Four days into shooting, she spoke with her mother by phone to give her the news. Her mother broke down and gave her stunning news in return.
"She said, 'I need to tell you something that I never told you before. When I was 19, I went to have an abortion with you. I was in the clinic, on the table and the nurse was very pregnant and she came in to examine me. And I got really sick to my stomach and I knew I couldn't do it, and I got up and I walked out and I chose you.'"
Unplanned is scheduled to hit theaters on March 29th. In the meantime, watch the full Fox News interview with Bratcher: it is tremendously powerful, intimately personal and will not leave you unmoved.
