The Christian actress continues to trust in the Lord as her husband battles a terminal illness.
We initially wrote about the health situation confronting the husband of Shannen Fields last summer. Jimmy Fields suffers from Ameyotrophic Lateral Scrlerosis (ALS), a disease of the nervous system that leads to muscle wasting, loss of motor control and ultimately death.
First diagnosed with the condition - also known as Lou Gehrig's disease - in March, 2020, Jimmy's health has gradually deteriorated. Shannen Fields put out an update last night on social media, saying, "This past week and a half has been the toughest so far," before going on to mention that her husband is not able to walk or even stand up.
An image accompanying the post shows Jimmy in a wheelchair interacting with the couple's two adult children and Shannen's niece and nephew. Despite his worsening condition, the Fields Family is keeping their eyes firmly fixed on the Lord. In fact, when the picture was taken, Jimmy was telling the young people "about Jesus" and encouraging them "to live life to the fullest and to spread the Gospel to all."
Shannen Fields, who is best known for her role in the faith-based movie Facing the Giants, from Alex Kendrick and Stephen Kendrick, refuses to lose hope. She says her husband is a fighter and she cites Scripture from Ephesians 3:20-21 that testifies to God's ability to do exceedingly more than we request. The actress also expresses deep gratitude for consistent supplication from fellow Believers on her husband's behalf.
"Our family feels your prayers every second of the day and night! Keep fighting and praying with us!! We believe God can do above and beyond what we ask or think!! Jesus is our rock and we trust HIM to walk with us through this storm!! He will NEVER leave us!!"
Wow, that is such a hope-inspiring statement. It's a testimony really, and it speaks to the strength of our Christian sister Shannen Fields' faith. Please join us as we lift her, Jimmy Fields and their family up in prayer. Come what will, may they be drawn ever closer to the Father, through the Son, by the Spirit. His will be done.
