The "Overcomer" star and her husband are marking their silver anniversary this week and citing the Lord as the foundation of their union.
If you're a fan of faith-based movies then you likely know Shari Rigby from pictures like Overcomer, October Baby and The Least of These, in which she - respectively - worked with the Kendrick Brothers, the Erwin Brothers and starred opposite Stephen Baldwin. In other words, she is a top-notch Christian actress.
We are happy to report that she and her husband, Matt Wiedmann, are celebrating 25 years of matrimony, as Rigby announced this week on social media. In a post featuring the couple together, the mother of two adult children noted she's spent those years "loving this man!"
Rigby, who earlier this year directed her first feature film - a faith-based comedy called Identity Crisis - also delivered a dose of reality in her missive, stating that she and Wiedmann have lived through "sickness and health" and "held one another during loss of loved ones while mourning."
Despite those challenges, they also have spent the years together "encouraging one another to keep going," understanding that though "marriage is not easy...it is GOOD." And for that, Rigby expresses her gratitude to the Lord.
"We have gone through peaks and valleys over the years. We have raised two incredible young men together. We thank God that we both said the “D” word (divorce) will not be in our vocabulary. 🙌🏻 We thank God for marriage and the creation of it! We, over the years have called on and leaned into the Lord over and over again! Our foundation is set on HIM!"
That is quite the testimonial and is the sort of encouraging word Rigby often shares on social media and in interviews and public appearances, which is one of the reasons we at Christian Film Blog are big fans of hers. As for that directorial debut, Identity Crisis is currently in post-production and still awaiting a release date.
