Their faith-based documentary will feature a Heisman-Trophy winner and a renowned megachurch pastor, among others.
Show Me The Father, the first documentary from the brother duo of Alex Kendrick and Stephen Kendrick, will hit the silver screen later this year, as we previously reported. It aims, according to the film's synopsis, to "surprise viewers with captivating stories interwoven with inspirational truths about the fatherhood of God," profiling real-life fathers as the mechanism to do so.
Thanks to a social media post from the production's director of photography, Jon Melton, we now know a few of the participants. They include Heisman-Trophy-winning former NFL running back Eddie George and Dr. Tony Evans, pastor of Oak Cliff Bible Fellowship in Dallas, who is also the father of well-known Christian speaker and best-selling author Priscilla Shirer.
She is an actress as well and has starred in two of the biggest hit movies from the Kendrick Brothers - War Room and Overcomer. It would seem from pictures in the aforementioned social media post that she and her three siblings will also take part in the documentary, which Alex Kendrick believes will prove particularly uplifting and inspirational.
"It's going to grab your heart, pull it out, whip it around a couple of times (and) stick it right back in - better!"
Wow, talk about raising expectations! The Kendricks - each of whom have six children - will also take part in the documentary, with Stephen sharing the adoption story of his daughter. Show Me the Father is scheduled to release in theaters nationwide on September 10th and Christian Film Blog will keep you up to date on developments until then.
I love all the Kendrick Brothers movies and look forward to seeing the 2 new ones "Show Me the Father" and "Courageous Legacy" as soon as they are out here in Prince William County, Virginia.
