The faith-based thriller has managed to do so for ten consecutive weekends since releasing in early July.
Though the headlines for Sound of Freedom have shifted to its smashing international success after its recent release overseas, the movie continues to bring in solid revenue domestically: it earned $406,000 from Friday through Sunday, according to The Numbers website.
That puts it in 17th place overall at the weekend box office and takes its total haul here at home to a whopping $183 million in 69 days. As Christian Film Blog has previously reported, that revenue makes it second all time in the faith-based genre behind only director Mel Gibson's The Passion of the Christ.
Sound of Freedom is based on the true story of Tim Ballard, a former U.S. Department of Homeland Security official who quit his government job in order to devote himself full-time to the fight against child sex trafficking. Jim Caviezel, who also starred in The Passion of the Christ, plays the part of Ballard and is joined in the cast by Oscar-winner Mira Sorvino.
