The eight-episode inaugural season of The Chosen is a worldwide phenomenon, having already garnered 83 million views in scores of countries. Now it will take to the air waves for the first time starting next Monday on the Trinity Broadcasting Network.

Show creator and director Dallas Jenkins and his partners from VidAngel Studios have previously stated they hope the program will eventually top the one billion (b) view mark; with six or seven more seasons to go, that staggering number looked achievable even before this deal was announced. But with the reach of TBN added to the mix, they may get there a lot faster.

That's because the American religious broadcaster has a serious global footprint: it transmits to more than 175 nations, via 32 networks in 14 languages. And it does it 24-hours a day, seven days a week. In a press release about The Chosen, TBN chairman Matt Crouch expressed his enthusiasm about airing the show.

"We are thrilled to bring this television series to TBN and allow our viewers to experience Jesus in a way that has never been done before."

The first episode of season one will air next Monday, February 8th, at 9:30 PM EST/8:30 PM CST. It will be preceded at 9:00 PM EST/8:00 PM CST by a related teaching series called The Chosen Unveiled, hosted by Messianic Rabbi Jason Sobel. The network will broadcast the remaining episodes one at a time on Mondays over the next seven weeks.

Jenkins and his team are filming season two of The Chosen right now in Texas. He has said in the past that he hopes the first episode may be ready for release around Easter. Christian Film Blog will keep you up to date on that as more definitive information becomes available.
