A solid first weekend in theaters for The Firing Squad, which brought in almost $900,000 in ticket sales, according to final figures from The Numbers website. That puts it in ninth place overall from Friday through Sunday.
Based on actual events, the faith-based picture tells the story of three Christians sentenced to die by firing squad in Indonesia. It features several Believers in front of and behind the camera, including director Tim Chey and actors Kevin Sorbo and Cuba Gooding Jr.; the latter was raised a Christian and - after drifting away as an adult - recently rededicated himself to the Lord, according to an interview from earlier this year with The Christian Post.
