The Kendrick Brothers' latest picture makes it two consecutive weekends in the Top-10.
Ticket sales remained strong for The Forge in its second weekend in theaters, with the faith-based film bringing in $4.6 million, according to The Numbers website. That is just a 31% drop from its debut a week earlier, which is a smaller fall-off than is typical for theatrical releases, and was no doubt helped in part by a slight increase in theater count - up to 1,921 from 1,818 - and Labor Day weekend; it also puts the production in seventh place overall, down two spots from last weekend.
The movie, co-written by the brother duo of Alex and Stephen Kendrick and directed by the former and produced by the latter, focuses on the issue of discipleship. It also has a strong cast of Christian actors, including Priscilla Shirer, Karen Abercrombie, and Cameron Arnett.
Through ten days in release, The Forge has brought in a total of $14.3 million in North American revenue. Though a good number, it lags behind the previous feature that the Kendricks put out through their distributor Affirm Films back in 2019. That movie - Overcomer - had generated $17.2 million by this stage of the game and ultimately went on to make $34.7 million domestically.
