This biopic about a baseball phenom who overcame serious illness to play professionally is now in its fourth week in release.
The Hill claimed 18th place at the weekend box office, according to The Numbers website, bringing in just north of $350,000 from Friday through Sunday. That is about 40% lower than the previous weekend and is in part due to a sizable drop in the movie's theater count: down from 1,208 venues to 805 over the same period.
This film has now generated some $7.1 million through 24 days in theatrical release. Though Christian Film Blog has not seen a budget number, that is a solid revenue performance for a picture like this.
The story is based on the life of a Texan named Rickey Hill, who battled through a degenerative spinal condition to fulfill his dream of playing professional baseball. The movie stars Christian actor Colin Ford in the lead role and features Hollywood veteran Dennis Quaid playing the part of Hill's Baptist preacher father.
