The hit show about the life of Jesus will roll out on the big screen next spring.
If you are counting the days until new episodes of The Chosen come out, you are going to be doing so until April of 2025. That is when Season 5 will release, according to the show's creator/director Dallas Jenkins.
The 49-year-old committed Believer made the announcement last night in a social media livestream viewed by nearly 100,000 people. As with past practice, the eight-episodes will release first in movie theaters - in several batches - before becoming available for free on the program's app and social media platforms. The exact dates are still to be determined, however, with Jenkins saying the release would begin either the first or second week of April and continue into Easter weekend.
Through four seasons, the show - which stars American actor Jonathan Roumie in the role of Jesus - has garnered a staggering 800-million episode views by a global audience of some 250 million people, according to the filmmakers behind it. Jenkins has stated in the past that he hopes more than one billion viewers will ultimately see the program.
Season 5 is set in Jerusalem during Holy Week, with the action playing out between Jesus' Triumphal Entry and the Last Supper with his disciples. There will be two additional seasons to follow, with Season 6 focusing on the Crucifixion and Season 7 on the Resurrection.
