The true story of small-town heroism is the follow-up effort to the duo's hit "Jesus Revolution."
Andrew and Jon Erwin are not only the top filmmakers in the Christian genre, the brothers have also become the most prolific since they partnered with Lionsgate back in 2019, as a string of strong movies followed the signing of their agreement with that studio: I Still Believe in 2020, American Underdog in 2021 and the aforementioned Jesus Revolution earlier this year.
Next up is Ordinary Angels, which - as with its predecessors - will feature high-profile on-screen talent; this time around it is Oscar-winner Hilary Swank and Christian actor Alan Ritchson, who played the lead in last year's Reacher series on Amazon. The story is based on actual events in which Swank's character rallies a small Kentucky town to help save the critically ill daughter of Ritchson's character during a blizzard.
The Erwins, who are committed Believers, serve as producers on the picture together with their partner Kevin Downes, while Jon Gunn - who executive produced the three films the brothers put out under the Lionsgate deal - is the director. Ordinary Angels is scheduled to release in theaters on October 13th of this year, and the trailer below will give you a good sense of what to expect.
UPDATE: The release date for this film has been pushed back. It is now scheduled to roll out in theaters on February 23, 2024.
